Features

Civil provides read access to data in civil custom objects through a convenient API.
Smart Civil Objects

Access common civil entities and the relationships between them: Cogo points, surfaces, corridors, assemblies, alignments, profiles, pipe networks and more.

Styles

Get the styles assigned to civil entities and the data associated with them.

Terrain Data in Sections and Profiles

Read section and profile data for surface elevations to visualize topography.

Text and Labels

Access text, labels, and other annotating data that correspond to civil objects.

Edit Civil objects via a powerful high-level API.
Modifying Object Properties

Modify all standard properties of drawing objects (visibility, style, associated layer, etc.), civil-specific properties (coordinates, elevations, slopes, etc.) and user-defined properties.

Geometric Transformations

Perform standard object transformations (translation, rotation and scaling), use object-specific functions to modify specific geometric parameters or explode a complex object into a set of simpler elements by using the built-in decomposition mechanism.

Smart Linking

Civil objects relate to each other and dynamically link to project documents and specifications — reacting to any design changes and updating project documentation.

Create standard civil objects such as Cogo points, surfaces, and alignments.
Smart Civil Objects

Create civil entities and the relationships between them: Cogo points, surfaces, and alignments.

Associative and Non-Associative Objects

Associative civil objects automatically update their corresponding dimensions, spaces, and calculations. Non-associative civil objects can also be created with user-defined geometry for standalone objects.

Dictionaries and Extended Data

Create and edit dictionaries to store objects of different types, add new types of objects, embed custom objects, attach various data to the objects, and perform flexible restructuring of the database. Use the extended data API to attach various data to an object that can be used in external applications.

Save civil objects with their design data to the latest civil version.
Save the Latest Version

Civil SDK saves objects in the most recent civil object format, ensuring interoperability between applications that work with civil objects.

Visualize civil objects on any platform using any device.
Performance

Spatial filtering and other performance enhancing techniques provide fast rendering of civil objects.

Visual Styles

Use different visual styles to customize your rendering of silhouettes, obscured (hidden) edges, "always on top" edges, transparency and more.

Publish civil objects to rich, functional 3D PDF, or standard 2D PDF.
Model Presentations

Sections and profiles make it easy to create comprehensive presentations of a civil model. Section and profile objects are dynamically linked to the civil model, so any model changes are automatically reflected in all related sections and profiles.

Reports and documentation

Full support for plan sheets and property sets that can be used to create model specifications. Civil objects can be linked to schedules, so they automatically reflect any design changes.

Civil SDK can be licensed by Sustaining, Founding and Corporate members of ODA.
Collaborative Development

Civil SDK is developed through a Special Interest Group (SIG) within ODA. A SIG is a separately funded development project that allows small groups of ODA members to collaboratively fund specialized projects.

SIG Requirements

Any ODA member of Sustaining level or higher may participate in a SIG. An additional SIG-specific contract must be executed to join a SIG.

Price

Membership in the Civil SIG, which includes access to the Civil SDK for commercial use and free technical support, is $10,000 per year. SIG fees directly fund the development work for the project. Please see pricing for more details about licensing options.

Open Roads SupportInteroperability for Bentley Open Roads Data

ODA is seeking funding to develop support for extracting Open Roads data from DGN files.
This work will be done as a subgroup of our Civil SDK project.

Features

  • Extract detailed hydrology elements, including culverts, headwalls, channel liners, and storm sewers, with storm sewer inlet types and pipe connection types.

  • Extract alignments, profiles, surface and other civil objects.

  • Visual Open Roads data.
